Regatta 2026
Bank Holiday Weekend - May 2nd & 3rd
Following on from the success of last year’s Regatta, we will be hosting rowing clubs from around the UK, racing for fame and glory in one of the rowing season’s earliest Regattas.
In 2025 we had over 40 rowing clubs attend our two-day racing event, with Saturday 2nd May racing our ‘long’ course, around 1km, and the Sunday 3rd May being ‘sprint’ racing over a 500m section of the River Avon.
Crews ranging from 8 to 80 take part across the two days, but we also have thousands of family, friends and spectators lining the banks of the river, soaking up the atmosphere and, hopefully, beautiful warm sunshine.
Not only can you come and see multi-generational sporting history being made, but there will be food aplenty, from our famous BBQ, The Boathouse Cafe will be open serving delicious food and the bar will be serving a plethora of beers, wines and barrista-style coffees.
Of course, an event like this for a local rowing club takes a huge amount or organisation from our member volunteers. However, we are deeply grateful for the support we get from our volunteers, officials, VIP sponsors and the local community. Without this support, our Regatta would not be the event it has become renown for.

What is a Regatta?
A rowing regatta is fast, thrilling and surprisingly addictive to watch. It’s a festival of racing on the water, where crews battle side‑by‑side over a marked course, pushing strength, stamina and teamwork to the limit. From explosive starts to nail‑biting finishes, regattas are all about speed, precision and heart‑pounding action.
Across two packed days, you’ll see races coming thick and fast - powerful crews surging down the river, coxes calling every stroke and crowds lining the bank cheering them home. It’s proper sport, up close and personal.
A Sport Steeped in History
Rowing is one of the world’s oldest organised sports, with roots stretching back centuries. Regattas in Britain date to the early 18th century, when rowing evolved from a working trade into a fiercely competitive pastime. That tradition lives on today, combining heritage and community spirit with modern, high‑energy racing.
Our annual regatta proudly carries that legacy forward, blending classic rowing tradition with a welcoming, accessible atmosphere for everyone, whether you’re a lifelong rowing fan or a first‑time spectator.
What Spectators Can Expect
This is not a quiet day by the river.
Expect:
Non‑stop racing across the weekend, with crews of all ages and abilities
Big, powerful sprints and dramatic photo‑finishes
A buzzing riverside atmosphere with music, commentary and crowds
Family‑friendly fun, with space to relax, picnic and enjoy the day
Food, drink and local traders, keeping everyone fuelled and smiling
Rowing is uniquely close‑up; you’ll feel the rhythm of the racing, hear the calls from the coxswains and see the effort on every athlete’s face as they fight for the line.
