Club News & Blog

We have good news!

At the most recent Executive Committee meeting of the whole Rowing and Rackets club, we have confirmed there is now enough capital from the sinking fund to start the refurbishment process. We will still need to raise £2000 to refill some of the capital fund in the next 9 months.

The old tarmac courts are past their sell-by date and the floodlights on them were removed after they deteriorated. We are delighted to let you know of the staged approach to bring all six courts up to scratch with full floodlighting by 2018:

Stage 1, Autumn/winter 2016: Install new LED floodlights for the old tarmac courts

Stage 2, Spring / summer 2017: Resurface all 3 tarmac courts with new coloured tarmac

Stage 3, Spring/summer 2018: Renovate and resurface all 3 acrylic courts

Inspire2coach have confirmed that once floodlights are installed on the old tarmac courts, they can re-start the return to tennis and beginner adult courses that fed into social nights. Cardio tennis sessions will be re-started with the new coaches.

We will keep you up to date with all developments.

The Saturday / Sunday morning Café is really thriving – 9am-midday – papers, bean to cup coffees, full breakfasts or breakfast rolls all available while you laze on the leather sofas watching the new 60″ TV or browse on the free WiFi.

Standard adult single membership fees have been frozen at £12.50 per month. All other membership fees have gone up minimally (approx. 1%). Please do get on direct debit if you are not yet as this can reduce time chasing up those who might have forgotten (!)

Thanks to all tennis committee members who have come on board to make all of this possible. Thanks too to (see their new website and shop facility) for their fabulous support and to head coach Andy Crowther for bringing new coaches to our club under his expert guidance. If you haven’t experienced the brilliant coaching of Andy and his team yet, contact him via inspire2coach or at the club
